About me
I'm Allan Plenderleith, a BAFTA-winning Children's TV Head Writer, Scriptwriter, Showrunner and Series Developer with over 20 years' experience working across animation and live action for children and families.
My credits include Deer Squad, LEGO Friends, Shaun the Sheep, Go Jetters, Horrid Henry, Thomas & Friends, Super Sema and many more. I work with broadcasters, studios and producers on established shows as well as new IP, from series bibles and pilots through to writers' rooms, script editing and full series production.

I created and wrote GORDON THE GARDEN GNOME for BBC, ABC, ZDF, a 52 episode animated series which was distributed worldwide, developed into a range of merchandise and released on DVD by Paramount.
I am the author of THE SMELLY SPROUT, a best-selling Christmas book for children and part of a series of Christmas books available on Amazon, Waterstone's and all good bookshops, with over 1 million books sold to date in the UK alone.

What do I do?
I write and develop children's and family stories across animation and live action, from original ideas and early development through to finished scripts and full series production.
My work ranges from comedy and action-adventure to preschool and educational content. I particularly enjoy character-led storytelling, strong visual comedy and finding the tone that makes a new world or cast feel distinctive. As a Head Writer and Showrunner, I also work closely with producers and writing teams to shape series, develop characters, rewrite bibles and keep the creative voice consistent across multiple episodes.

Author and Illustrator of over 20 children's books
I love writing children's books - my first book, The Smelly Sprout, was inspired by my son who refused to eat sprouts when he was younger. I told him a story to feel sorry for sprouts and it worked, he gobbled them up! My latest book, Smelly Santa, is out now.
